Well after three and a half years of being a good boy I fucked up again.  I decided I was OK to drive Friday night and got picked up for my second DUI.  Called a lawyer today meet with her the day before the arraignment.  Since the first was pleaed down to an OUI things may not be too bad, but I am still scarred shitless.  Fuck you life.

Wow, Mike.  For someone who is so good at watching out for other people, you sure do a good job of shooting yourself in the foot sometimes.  You're too smart for this kind of thing...

What did your lawyer say?

You shouldn't have even done it at all. Should have known better. In fact you should have done as I do, if I so much as sip a drink I refuse to drive.

Yeah  It sucks and everyone makes mistakes. I should have had two myself but luckily I knew the cop that pulled me over both times.
I hope everything works out for you Mike. Maybe you can only get away with a fine and at best some community service.

Why thank you. Smiley

And I simply say it to make a point, folks do make mistakes, but stupid mistakes, which this was, can easily be avoided. That fact that he was even willing to get into the driver seat after drinking is in my opinion asinine.

This incident may have resulted in an "oops! but we're all ok!", but consider the possibilities for what COULD have happened. He was obviously driving bad enough to get pulled over, so I find it entirely feasible that he was up enough to have possibly caused a crash, or hit someone's kid, or any number of things and that obviously does no one good and illustrates the reason WHY he should have done the smart thing in the first place. But apparently he's decided somewhere along the line that he can live with that if it happens, particularly given that this isn't the first time. Once is a fuck up, but twice is downright ignorant and irresponsible from where I stand on this issue.

You'll find no sympathy from me or well wishing that he can legally squirm his way out paying for something careless as this.

I make no excuses this was my fault...my poor decision.  I was not driving erraticaly or in my opinion endangering anyone.  I got a speeding ticket for 5 over.  I was legally drunk though, albeit by a small amount.  Thanks for the well wishes guys.  The state police have hooked me up with a lawyer they recomended and I am hoping for the best.  I wont find out for a while though as the arraignment isnt till next Tuesday.

Fernin, remember when you accused me of banning you when our site was suspended because of a hacking attack?  This time, you're not imagining things -- you are banned from the site.  I'm sure you'll use someone else's PC to look at this, so here's your parting note and explanation:

This bizarre obsession with Baker has made everyone uncomfortable, and I personally tried my level best to get you to chill out in I don't know how many messages back and forth, but this shit is too much.

I suspect, as I'm sure others do as well, that this post of yours is purely spite because Mike finally had his fill of your antics and you've been freaking out about it ever since then.  But the reality is that the back story doesn't matter.  Mike is one of the few people in the world who is willing to tell his friends when he makes mistakes and he doesn't need a cyberstalker, which is what you have become, making it worse.  It's time to take your act somewhere else.

For the record, Mike has never asked any of us to ban you from the site.  I am doing this on my own.

I maintain, as we discussed, that you need to get help, and hope you do.

That sucks.

I got an underage Friday.  I'll likely get a $300 fine and have to take a class which takes it off my record if I plead guilty.  Then, on Sunday night (I'm on Spring break) I almost got another one in Philly.  Thank God the Philly cops were cool as hell about it.

BTW:  If anyone is unhappy with the ban, I'm open to criticism about it.  A lot has happened in the background and I didn't know how else to make it stop.  We have taken pride in being adults with thick skin and never banning anyone (save the situation we had with Joker, which was extreme) but I didn't really see a way through this.  I was the first one with banning ability to see that he was trying to start shit up again, so I just ended it.

I apologize if anyone is unhappy with the result.

When I was 16-20 every cop I met was cool about it.  They made me pour out my beer and shit like that, but they were all like, "I did it, too."

You have to be closing in on 21 soon, though, aren't you?

The ones that gave me the citation were University Police at Penn State.  90% of what they do is probably underages and disorderly conduct.  In Philly, after making sure I had no drugs on me, they just told us we shouldn't be walking in that area at this time of night and let us go.  They even gave my friend back his brother's (over 21) ID.

We had to stand there for a little while though while they made sure I wasn't someone matching my name and D.O.B. who has a warrant in FL shrug

And I turn 21 next January

psych, all I can say is BRAVO. It's been long overdue and I must say it smells better in here already.  Grin

Deth, I support you 100% and am glad that you're manning up and taking responsibility for your mistake. Good luck with the courts!

On Fernin:  No complaints here.  I'm not sure of everything that happened in the background, but I know at least a few really don't like him and am aware of no one that will miss him.
